Religion is losing market share to Science in the mental health department

The results of this study are not surprising.

Historically, religion was the sole purveyor of treatment for those with mental illness.

The change to a medical view on what is essentially a medical phenomenon--mental illness--will not come easily to religion.

Religion is fast losing part of its market share to science, so to speak.

Wow. Thats not good. As someone who experiences troubles day in and day out due to mental illnesses, I know I would most certainally not like to hear this.

Although I suppose I could see some sort of comfort in this. I mean, if you've just been diagnosed, youll pretty much look for any answer. So going to your church and them telling you its all spiritual might actually make a person feel better, they wouldnt think they were crazy, which is often the stereotype of people with mental illnesses.

If the people who go choose to take this advice given to them, then they will just have to suffer the consequences now wont they?
